Description:
The mission of the NTD Chinese International Piano Competition is to promote classical piano music. The competition highlights classical works ranging from the Baroque period to the Romantic period. As part of the NTD Television Competition Series, the Chinese International Piano Competition is an opportunity for Chinese pianists from around the world to share their art. Finals and award concert will be held at Carnegie Hall (Zankel Hall). Preliminaries and semi-finals will take place on October 25th and 26th at the Engelman Recital Hall in New York City.

Description:
The Chamber Orchestra of Colorado Springs (known locally as “Chamber Orchestra of the Springs”) is accepting submissions for their 30th Anniversary Composition Contest in the 2013 – 2014 season. The winning piece will be featured as a highlight of the 30th Anniversary of the orchestra in the season finale, April 26-27, 2014. Winning prize is $3,000. Preference will be given to pieces that incorporate influences or inspirations from the Rocky Mountain Region. Submissions should be 8 – 20 minutes in length and as close as possible to the following instrumentation: 2222 2200 tmp/perc (1 player) str. Excessive extra musicians and unusual instruments (with the exception of piccolo and English horn) may disqualify a submission. Entrants should submit a full score (.pdf format recommended) and are strongly encouraged to include a representative recording of the piece (synthesized mock-ups from notation software programs, piano reductions, or read-throughs by other orchestras are all acceptable). The winner will provide legible score and parts (.pdf format) for use in rehearsals and performances by March 1, 2014. The Chamber Orchestra will provide the winner with a concert-quality recording of the piece with no use restrictions. If the winner is available, the Chamber Orchestra will cover travel, lodging, and per diem to attend the dress rehearsal and performances. Submission deadline is December 31, 2013.
