“Behind Blue Eyes” is one of the most recognizable alternative rock covers made by the popular nu metal band from the US – Limp Bizkit. The original rock song was written in 1971 by the English rockers The Who (particularly by Pete Townshend). It was released as part of their 5th album titled “Who’s Next”. As for Limp Bizkit version, it appeared in 2003 and became a single on the band’s 4th “Results May Vary” album. The band’s cover significantly differs from the original composition: it features Speak & Spell, has a new verse, one more chorus and replaces the original theme. The song appears in the credits of the 2003 supernatural film Gothika and is lyrically interwoven with the film’s plot.

I belong to the generation of teenagers who heard Limp Bizkit earlier than The Who. So no wonder that to me this version of Behind Blues Eyes is very attractive and pleasant to play (I first didn't even realize it was a cover!). I heard the original composition years after this. It's not up to me to judge and compare these two pieces that are completely different I must say (the additional chorus and verse, as it turned out). But as for now, since I've decided to learn to play the song on my own guitar, I do feel very attached to Limp Bizkit and their remake way more.
