Johannes Brahms
Romantic
It is next to impossible to imagine the period of Romanticism without the music of Johannes Brahms, bearing in mind his outstanding role in the musical life of his time and even our time since time has never had power over genius. Every genre Brahms composed in was enriched by at least one composition that later on became part and parcel of any repertoire, either it was symphonies for which he could have been conferred the title of god father of symphonic music or sonatas in which he restored the clarinet to its rights – the instrument unjustly neglected by his contemporaries.
The popularity of Brahms’ concerti and symphonic pieces was found side by side with the success of his waltzes and dances among which the Hungarian Dances happened to be the first work of a composer of his caliber to have been recorded and published on the vinyl. Until fairly recent time there has existed an opinion that Brahms was an unbearably conservative composer but such a point of view was debunked by Arnold Schoenberg who had thoroughly studied Brahms’ works and later even orchestrated one of the composer’s quartets. Anton Webern adhered to an opinion that Brahms to a large extent anticipated the attainments of the Second Viennese School thus winning a sincere respect in the vanguard circles. We have an impressive collection of works by the great German composer, their number amounts to 1374, all of them you can easily download and print. Our sheet music is top quality and we hope you’ll find in our collection the arrangement to your liking.
