A beautiful heart-wrenching story about a doomed relationship that can evoke emotions from the heart of a most skeptical listener among one's audience. I'm always looking for 'pro' arrangements, which is a problem at times, as the quality of online scores often leaves much to be desired, so I'm happy I got this one. The piece is about 'playing with feeling' and you'll need some time to make it work like that. Luckily, there is a lot of rubato allowed here. I rarely say so but this is one of the few cases when a cover surpassed the original for me. My suggestion is the version by the American jazz vocalist Karrin Allyson. I love it for the harmony complexities that can't be conveyed easily with one voice. I loved the pop-jazzy emphasis brought to Joel's masterpiece above its original charm.
