Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years” song was released in 2011 as the 2nd single of the original motion picture soundtrack album from “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part One”. The song was written by Christina herself and David Hodges (producer, songwriter and former member of “Evanescence”). “A Thousand Years” is a dedication to the love story of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, the main characters of The Twilight Saga. The song was re-recorded for the second part of “Breaking Dawn”, with Steve Kazee’s vocals added to it. With the film’s high popularity, numerous covers of the song appeared. The Voice Brazil version of the song performed by its contestants Marcela Bueno and Sam Alves became even more popular on iTunes Brazil than the original by Perri.

Crying like a baby over the books of Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, Christina Perri could hardly imagine she would be the one to write and perform the main song for her favourite novel, a song that would make the whole world play and sing along. Although just a credit song, “A Thousand Years” got more affection from the fans than any of the major scenes’ tracks, so after being re-recorded for the “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” it becomes a true franchise’ anthem. Stepping into the love story of Kristen Stewart’s and Robert Pattinson’s film characters (and inspired by their real-life romance too), Christina Perri managed to pen an epic curtain-fall song. A perfect romantic setting, a fear of love that is easy to relate to, and a catchy melody make “A Thousand Years” a very performer-friendly composition. It has already got over a dozen of professional covers and became one of the most often-performed tunes at the wedding ceremonies. Whether you need an instrumental solo or an accompaniment for a vocalist, we have you covered – almost 40 printable music scores to choose from.

What a beautiful story behind the composition! I wonder what it feels like to see a dream come true and create the 'anthem' for the artwork you have been fond of since childhood years. I can imagine it was a very personal thing for Ms. Perri.. I got his arrangement for my teenage daughter and she seems to enjoy working on it immensely. Children of this age are swapped by the love songs anyway:)

Ideally, this love song can be played at any festive occasion!

Id eagerly use this song at my wedding ) or, even better, give this song as a 'present' for my best friend's wedding :)

I personally haven't watched the renowned Twilight so Christina's song is not associated with vampires in love for me. I like it from a different 'angle' and I see so much depth in it regardless of the movie. That's a very nice thing I think, when a song can exist and be loved out of the original context. The melody only is so much worth listening and enjoying!

Whoops. I didn't even know that's a song from the Twilight :) my friend and I found it last year to make a guitar-piano cover because we loved the melody a lot.

This song appears only in the end credits (surprising to me) but to me that should have been the central song of the movie, it's so symbolic and anthem-like, a perfect portraying of the romance, the fear and joy of being in love. I adore Cristina's voice delivery a lot

A nice song to walk down the aisle along to)) I’m a big fan of Twilight movies and everything that’s related to the love story of Edward and Bella! This song sounds like a love anthem, so melancholic and so powerfulll! Even my friend who’s a completely anti-twilight kind of person and not a romantic person at all said that it’s nice music))
