Songs of Life and Beyond is a cycle of four songs from various sources. The total duration is 8 minutes. It was first written in 1989 and some major revisions were made in 2011.
The first song is a setting of Who is Love? by Henry Tweedy. It asks what is true love and provides a number of answers, including learning the secret of life; of human relationships and that ‘God is All Love’.
The second song is by the composer: Why Are We Here? It asks many basic questions of what we are, but does not provide answers.
The last two songs follow one another without a break and set two of Bahá’u’lláh’s ‘Hidden Words’: O Son of Passion! and O Son of Love! They provide some answers as to how we should live and that we should prepare ourselves for the next life.
