his is my second oratorio and one of two prologue’s to my Grand play “Judas Christ” This work is titled Gospel of Phillip and it consist of 11 parts. The work is found at Naq hamadi , Egypt in 1945. The work was buried in a cave were an peasant found it again when it went lost around the 3th century. The work is called “Gospel of Phillip” because it mentioned his name and is the only Apostle mentioned. This gospel is one of gnostic gospels we know. The work is written around 150 to 300 ad. There are some very different insights compared to the other non-gnostic gospels we know. The Gospel emphasizes the sacramental nature of the embrace between man and woman in the nuptial chamber, which is an archetype of spiritual unity, which entails the indissoluble nature of spiritual marriage. The Gospel of Philip tells that Jesus married Mary Magdalene. Much of the Gospel of Philip is dedicated to a discussion of marriage as a sacred mystery, and two passages refer directly to Mary Magdalene and her close relationship with Jesus.
I made this work in a time line, a sort of 4 dimensions of you like. The work is divided in 4 parts: Crucefixio, Dolore, Ressurection and Libera me and each part is divided in 3 plays which are performed in three different spaces within the concert hall. When piece 1of Crucefixio starts, it starts in a small concert hall not all people can see this but on the way to the large hall where part 2 takes place is a line of Flat screens where they can see what is happening and throughout the building there will be loudspeakers so everyone can hear it. In the last 5 minutes of part one everyone must go to the main concert hall for part two. Every one walks in sound now because they are walking along the Flat screens and loud speakers. The large orchestra is starting 1 minute before the end of part 1 in the same “time/ stroke” which is 40 MM. This continues for every part. The concert public is always moving between 2 or 3 locations in the concert hall.
Total amount of instruments:
Piccolo, 8 flutes, Alto flute, Bass flute, 8 Oboes, Cor anglais, Oboe d'amore, 8 Clarinets, 4 Bass clarinet, 8 Bassoons, 4 Contra bassoons.
