Originally, “Let It Go” from Disney’s “Frozen” animated film was written for and performed by Idina Menzel. After Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez presented the song to Disney, it was decided to release a cover single, and the song’s authors chose the young American singer Demi Lovato for this role. Demi Lovato was selected for a few of reasons: she already used to be starring at Disney Channel and could relate to the song’s context having passed a similar life stage as the character of Queen Elsa. Walt Disney Records released the cover song by Lovato in October of 2013.

“Let It Go” is the most recognizable song from Walt Disney’s animated film “Frozen”. It is the winner of 2014 Academy Award for Best Original Song (outrunning Pharrell William’s “Happy”). The piano-vocal score and the lyrics were composed by the creative duet of Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez in 2013, and were specifically written for the vocal range of Idina Menzel, the star of the “Wicked” Broadway musical. In the film, the song is performed by Queen Elsa (Idina Menzel) and symbolizes the liberation from childhood fears and rejoicing the embracing of own powers.

Love Demi for for being able to pull off the complicated songs like this one

Quite literally, one of Disney's best original compositions so far.

My daughter's favorite passtime - singing Let It Go )) Great to have music like that!

well that seems to be a very popular movie , right? haven't watched it myself yet but heard the song multiple times. im not a 'cartoon' lover generally but that piece of music made me want to watch Frozen. it doesnt sound to be a childish kind of thing, thats a very universal song, looks so

I like Let It Go cz I can listen to it out of the movie's context and still love the message and the the great lyrics - it's so much up-to-date, I mean the problem of not being able to see, accept and use what you are good at. Very powerful music, I think. Never getting tired of listening to it

I love watching Disney movies as much as much kid does :) Frozen was no disappointment either, really suitable for both children and adults. Let It Go is probably the brightest music association with the movie so far, a kind of turning point of the story. I caught Sarah (my daughter) sing it a couple of times, though for now let-it-go is the only thing she can pronounce distinctively out of the son ))

To my mind, Let It Go is much more than just a Disney movie soundtrack. As far as I know, many people didn't like the movie itself but loved the song. Others think that the song is overrated (maybe that’s because it reached the stage when there is too much of it sounding at every corner, I dunno). As for me, it’s a great song, very symbolic. And Idina’s performance is awesome, she’s a really beautiful voice. I’d gladly sing Let It Go in choir myself
