A Caribbean journey through several different Latin styles, tracing the development of a theme based on the famous "Pachelbel's Canon in D". We travel through Calypso, Bossa Nova, Salsa, and a gospel finale, complete with organ. Scored for a scaled-down big band plus steel drums and Latin percussion (2 flute, 2 alto, 2 tenor, 2 trumpet, 2 trombone, 2 steel drums, piano, bass, drums, 6 Latin percussion). This can be played by a standard big band with the unused wind players playing the extra percussion parts, and the steel drums can be played on a synthesizer if necessary.
