“When We Were Young” is a soul ballad by Britain’s most famous female singer Adele. It was co-written by Adele and a Canadian breakout musician of 2015 – Tobias MacDonald Jesso Jr. The song appears as the 4th track on Adele’s 3rd album “25” released in 2015. The song reminiscing Adele’s past was very warmly met by the public and the critics. It got into the top 10 of almost a dozen European countries and had a tangible commercial success in the US as a digital track. Like many compositions from “25”, “When We Were Young” is written in E Major, at the tempo of 72 BPM. Adele’s vocals are greatly highlighted on the song, which is another reason why the ballad received acclaim from numerous magazines.

I have now realised why When We Were Young is among the most requested songs for various performances - it's a great music work to be picked for an audition (I'm strongly inclined to pass mine!). The score is in the original key but you can also transpose it if needed which was so handy for my performing partner. I think it's perfectly suited for a female performer and the piano accompaniment is intricate enough to provide a fancy background for your singing
