Variations on an old Italian folk melody Bergamasca, for cello and guitar.
(A version for clarinet and guitar is also available on this site).

The zip file contains score and parts

The sound sample is a live (but rather rough) recording by the composer on guitar with the late Chris Benson on cello, performed just after it was composed.

The "bergamasca" was a lusty 16th-century dance depicting the allegedly awkward manners of the inhabitants of Bergamo, in northern Italy, where the dance supposedly originated.
These variations are an arrangement of my original cello and guitar version, which was based on one of the original bergamasca tunes.

The pdf file contains score and parts.
