“Heroes” is a song from the album of the same name recorded by the legendary English singer & songwriter David Bowie. The song was written by Bowie and an electronic/ambient musician Brian Eno. It was released in 1977 to become the 2nd signature song in the creative career of David Bowie, after his hit “Rebel Rebel”. “Heroes” appeared at the time when Bowie lived in Berlin and was dedicated to the events of the time: it preceded the fall of Berlin Wall serving a sort of catalyst to it, just like Bruce Springsteen’s concert did. The lyrics tell a story of two lovers, each living on a different side of the Wall. “Heroes” became one of the greatest songs ever according to magazines like Rolling Stone. It was a big hit in both hemispheres in 1977 as well in 2016 after Bowie’s death.

Some music covers will never stand near the original, others will surpass it, and in this case, Glee cast interpreted the great hit by Bowie in such a decent manner that I think these two versions are approximately at the same level now. At least to me. I do enjoy playing some of the Glee interpretations and Heroes is my performing obsession at the moment. Thank you for the seemingly proper music, I have not found any discrepancies by now, seems to be a proper note-for-note transcription

After Bowie's departure, I couldn't but get back to his early songs, to music that launched the rock star of David Bowie. Heroes is truly a signature song, to me, it's been the most important hit that none of Bowie's later works (although great too) ever equaled. It's been sheer pleasure remembering Heroes on my dusty piano and reminiscing the great rebel times..
