“Lonely” (also titled “Mr. Lonely”) is a song that brought commercial success and international popularity to Akon, a Hip-Hop and R’n’B singer of American-Senegalese descent. It was written by Akon, Bobby Vinton and Gene Allen and presented to the SRC Records that immediately saw a gem in it. The song was released in 2005 as part of Akon’s debut album “Trouble” and soon topped the charts of a number of countries, including UK and Germany. One of the song’s memorable features is the use of special vocal sounds similar to those used by “Alvin and the Chipmunks”.
