A joyful yet reflective setting of one of William Blake's much-loved Songs of Innocence. The voice is in friendly dialogue with 'the piper' as represented in the syncopated melodic line of the piano accompaniment. The vocal range is D - F'.

Although the piece stands on its own it works well when paired with 'The Lamb', which naturally follows it.
