„Stay with me” ist ein populärer Pop-Song des britischen Sängers und Songwriter Sam Smith. Das Lied wurde von Smith selbst (zusammen mit James Napier, William Phillips, Tom Petty und Jeff Lynne) geschrieben und 2014 als Single aus seinem Debütalbum „In the Lonely Hour“ veröffentlicht. Das Stück wird von Kritikern im Wesentlichen positiv bewertet, ist kommerziell sehr erfolgreich und zählt zu Smiths Nummer-Eins-Hit. Die Single führte die britischen, kanadischen und neuseeländischen Charts an, erreichte Platz 2 der amerikanischen Billboard Hot 100 und wurde in die „Liste der 10 Besten Songs 2014“ vom Billboard-Magazin aufgenommen. 2015 wurde das Lied mit 2 Grammys als Aufnahme des Jahres und Song des Jahres ausgezeichnet. Es wird mehrere Male gecovert, die bekanntesten Version sind von Ed Sheeran, Vin Diesel, Chris Brown und Kelly Clarkson.

I was absolutely in love with this music piece until I read about the true meaning of the lyrics, I must say I'm slightly confused now:) The music is adorable, though!

Was für eine wunderschöne Ballade, so beruhigende und nette Melodie!.. Für mich ist das Stück stimmlich besonders gelungen. Sam Smith singt so schön und gefühlvoll… Und die Gospelelemente passen perfekt. Brillantes Lied, zurzeit mein absoluter Hit!

That's a lovely composition indeed. Though this song (chords, intonations, tempo, etc.) reminds me of Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" way too much. Nevertheless I think Sam Smith is a remarkable artist and I'm fond of his other songs as well.
