Blue Lullaby for Nefeli – Program Notes
I composed “Blue Lullaby for Nefeli” for a student of mine who was an alto saxophone player and a jazz singer. My intention in this piece was to remain simple, subtractive, on a medium level of difficulty, and use only low and medium dynamics, in order to be attuned to its lullaby - for - kids character. Thus, it was not surprising that it was composed during night, during a single night until the first light of the day came through.
