What I do love about the songs of this young and talented Canadian star is the amount of adult sincerity he puts in his compositions, that's a lot for an 18-year-old. Treat You Better sounds more like a strong Valentine-card song-confession. As for the musical part, it never lacks that agony that helps to make it sound so intense on whatever musical instrument it is performed. I'm not a teenager anymore but I find Shawn Mendes' music really mature and grown up. This is the kind of material that can be offered to students easily.
