"Earth Song" was written in 2001 as part of a performance piece for schools to encourage and educate children about environmental responsibility. "Zephyrana's Song" was the larger work and "Earth Song" links to science whilst giving a joyful and uplifting sense of 'home'. "Earth Song" is written with the option of two choirs for a truly magnificent sounding piece for larger orchestras or musical groups. An interesting counterpoint in 3-part harmony under the simpler melody means that it can be performed by whole schools or mixed choirs in either age or gender. Ethnic instruments are used to give the song the global feel fitting for the title. The backing track can be purchased as a learning and/or performance aid. There are orchestral parts planned to encourage the learning of orchestral instruments at a young age; scores will be for two levels of ability - early learners and more advanced parts for older children or those of a higher capability.
