NOTES
The Loch Tay Boat Song The air is a variant of an older, traditional one taken down by Col. Arthur Cameron about 1870, with lyrics added by Sir Harry Boulton (1859-1935). It appears in ‘Songs of The North, Vol. III’ (Cramer, 1926). It is a simple song of unrequited love for ‘mo nighean ruadh’, ‘my red haired girl’.
Leaving Stornoway (Faghail Steòrnabhagh) A song of exile which describes the feelings of a young man on leaving his beloved home on Lewis.
Rhu Vaternish (Fàilte Rubha Bhatairnis) A sailor in wartime thinks fondly of his homeland and Vaternish Point on Skye where his sweetheart resides.
