NOTES
Muile Nam Mòr-Bheann (Mull Of The High Mountains) This Gaelic song was composed by Duncan Livingstone (1877-1964) of Crogan, Isle of Mull and one of the many songs taken by emigrants to Nova Scotia. The melody is thought to be older.
Caol Muile (The Sound Of Mull) Also known as The Iona Boat Song, this is a song about the narrow stretch of water between Mull and Iona, composed by the Rev. John MacLeod of Morvern. Mentioned in ‘Modern Gaelic Bards’ (1908), the song praises the beauty of the area and its menfolk who put to sea, commenting that it will still be there after everyone he knows has left.
An t-Eilean Muileach (The Isle Of Mull) Lyrics by Dughall MacPhail (1818-1887) from Strathcoil, Mull, author, poet and songwriter. The song praises the beauty of the island.
