A Christmas Canticle set for 2 voices, melody originally published by M. Conferati in 1710. The Library of the Music Conservatory of Florence Italy contains the album of sacred motets and Canticles published by Mr. Conferati. We have included 3 verses in Italian which translate as follows:
1.Let every soul rejoice, Every voice shall rise to the heavens.
Today the mortal corpse is covered with a faded veil,
The King of Kings, lies without scepters or emblems.
2.A humble and simple hut is his royal palace,
A dirty and vile manger becomes the Christmas cradle,
The king lies nude on straw, with hay next to him.
3.Glory on high, peace to the world, one hears singing
Come forth from the fertile breast of the star of the sea.
And both the shepherd and the farmer will be joyous and stupified.
There are other verses, if anyone is interested they can contact me through email.
