"Evening Waltz" is the development of a theme from the soundtrack I composed for the film "The Tower of Pisa" (directed by Serban Marinescu). Towards the end of 2019, we performed the orchestral version, in a project for the Bucharest Symphony Orchestra. The premiere took place during the autumn season of "Salut Cultura". In December 2019, "Evening Waltz" was played on the occasion of another premiere: the first live performance of an orchestra micro-recital in a television news studio. The waltz was also included in the repertoire of the New Year's concert of the Bucharest Symphony Orchestra which took place in the Royal Palace Hall of Bucharest. In March 2020, "Evening Waltz" won the annual Creative Award of the Romanian Composers and Musicologists Union (UCMR), for best instrumental music. Also in March 2020 during the shutdown for the Covid 19 pandemic, an audio-video project was staged in conditions of isolation, and with 47 instrumentalists from several corners of the world at the initiative of the Bucharest Symphony Orchestra. The project was filmed using mobile phones only and dedicated to all medical staff at the front line of the fight against the virus. The waltz project was broadcasted by numerous radio and television stations in Romania but also abroad, from Europe to South America and through the Spanish EFE news agency, being listened to in all Spanishspeaking countries. I would like to thank the Bucharest Symphony Orchestra and my son, Andrei Tudor, who have been with me from the beginning of this project which continues to enjoy so much success today, and which has been embraced by the public with so much warmth! Ionel Tudor May, 2020
"Evening Waltz" stirs a powerful emotion and a state of well-being which you enjoy from the first chord. It finds its way into your soul and makes you yearn to listen to it constantly, leaving you despondent when it ends and its absence becomes present. Thank you, Ionel Tudor, for offering the Bucharest Symphony Orchestra the opportunity to bring to life an Immortal Waltz! Congratulations! Catalin Opritoiu (founder and manager of Bucharest Symphony Orchestra) May 2, 2020
