Chalk Circle Suite - part V
This originates from the incidental music to the Chalk Circle performed in 1970 at Cambridge and is now a duo for 2 violins - in the "easy" Section. Tuneful but modern in harmony - pleasing to listen to and compliments some of the more modern sounds in some of the Chalk Circle Suite. While the music was incidental the words of a poem from 1968 I wrote at school inspired the work
"it was Spring
Lambs frisked in the smut of the city
Green grass cried
While blue skies shed their tears on the streets" - with other verses to follow. Note how the second line overlaps with the third. The words fit the main theme before it is developed in the remaining bars..
