„Heroes“ ist einer der bekanntesten Pop-Songs über die Berliner Mauer, der vom populärsten britischen Musiker David Bowie stammt. Er schrieb das Lied zusammen mit Brian Eno und war auch als einer der Produzenten daran beteiligt. Es erzählte die Geschichte der Liebenden, die von der Mauer getrennt sind. Der Song wurde im Juli und August 1977 aufgenommen und gehört zur Bowies Berlin-Trilogie. Nach seinem Erschien im September 1977 hatte er keinen besonderen Erfolg, aber im Laufe der Zeit entwickelte sich „Heroes“ zu einem der bekanntesten und prominentesten Lieder in der Musikindustrie. Es wurde mehrmals in verschiedene Listen der besten Songs aufgenommen und hatte einen starken Einfluss auf den Mauerfall. „Heroes“ ist der zweitmeist gecoverte Song Bowies, viele Coverversionen erschienen in Deutschland. Hier wurde der Song mit dem Film „Christiane F. – Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo“ untrennbar verbunden, in dem Christiane selbst ein Bowie-Fan ist.

Originally, “Heroes” is a 1977 art rock song by David Bowie, from his album of the same name. Its writing credits go to Bowie and musician Brian Eno. The song is about two lovers separated by Berlin Wall striving to be together. The version above is one of the numerous covers of the famous song. It was created by the members of the popular American TV-series Glee (comedy/drama) that aired on Fox channel from 2009 till 2015. The song appears in the 4th season of the series, episode 7. It was performed by the duo of Sam Evans & Blaine Anderson. The music was recorded for and released as part of the Season Four album, vol. 1, in 2012. Generally, all of the songs performed within Glee series became extremely popular with the public.

Some music covers will never stand near the original, others will surpass it, and in this case, Glee cast interpreted the great hit by Bowie in such a decent manner that I think these two versions are approximately at the same level now. At least to me. I do enjoy playing some of the Glee interpretations and Heroes is my performing obsession at the moment. Thank you for the seemingly proper music, I have not found any discrepancies by now, seems to be a proper note-for-note transcription

After Bowie's departure, I couldn't but get back to his early songs, to music that launched the rock star of David Bowie. Heroes is truly a signature song, to me, it's been the most important hit that none of Bowie's later works (although great too) ever equaled. It's been sheer pleasure remembering Heroes on my dusty piano and reminiscing the great rebel times..
