Flavio Regis Cunha
Pianist | Conductor | Composer | Educator | Music Director
I am Flavio Regis Cunha, a dedicated music professional with over two decades of experience in composition, conducting, teaching, and entrepreneurship. My career spans a wide range of roles within the music industry, and I have developed a diverse skill set supported by a strong academic foundation. I hold a Doctorate and Master’s in Education, Art, and Culture from Mackenzie Presbyterian University, a Bachelor of Music from the State University of Campinas, and a Bachelor of Science in Advertising from Mackenzie Presbyterian University.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working as a conductor, composer, arranger, pianist, educator, and researcher. My musical journey began in my early years, immersed in the harmonies of church music at the Presbyterian Church where my father served as Pastor. This early exposure to music sparked a lifelong passion for artistic growth and development. I have also had the honor of studying with distinguished international musicians, including Roberto Bertrami, Parcival Modolo, Camp Kirkland, Kenn Hughes, and Knut Andreas. Their mentorship has greatly influenced my approach to music, particularly in arrangement, choir and orchestra conducting, and Brazilian music.
Currently, I serve as Music Director and Educator at Mackenzie Presbyterian University and as Minister of Music at the Pinheiros Presbyterian Church, where I apply Christian ethical principles within a reformed worldview. One of my most significant achievements has been founding the Mackenzie University Orchestra, where I act as resident composer, conductor, and pianist. This initiative has allowed me to combine my musical talents with my passion for mentoring and inspiring the next generation of musicians. Furthermore, my role as Composer-in-Residence at Mackenzie Presbyterian University has provided me with invaluable leadership and experience in managing and directing musical projects.
I am committed to continuing my professional development and contributing meaningfully to the cultural and educational landscape of music.
