Until Pharrell Williams’ song “Happy” topped the music charts of many countries in 2013, his previous single “Frontin'” was his biggest hit. Written in 2003, it became Pharrell‘s first solo single. The singer intended to produce “Frontin’” entirely by himself but it ended up being produced by The Neptunes. The vocals by the popular US rapper Jay Z are featured in the song. “Frontin’” was titled this way to refer to the modern way of trying to impress someone – to put up a façade, an artificial ‘front’.

Listened to Pharrell's music before it was mainstream, really ) I even think that Frontin' is in many ways musically and lyrically better that the famed Happy!

I became interested in Pharrell Williams' music only after "Blurred Lines" and "Happy". That's when I started 'digging' and this old song by this talented musician came up- now I think I like his earlier songs even more! ANd i also think that unlike the majority, Pharrell shines even more in duets (Frontn' with Jay Z is a good example too) than in solo works.
