“The Great Escape” is a pop punk song by the American rock band Boys Like Girls. It was composed by Martin Johnson, Dave Katz and Sam Hollander and released in 2007 as part of the band’s debut album of the same name. It was also released as a single, among other hits by Boys Like Girls like “Hero/Heroine” and “Thunder”. “The Great Escape” became one of the top songs on Billboard Hot 100 and got Platinum and Gold certifications by RIAA. Lyrically, the song is about graduating and leaving the native town, stepping into the adult life and spending the last party night with your friends. The piece was widely used in the pop culture, becoming part of the Disney’s “Tangled” trailer as well as of the “Running Man” show. “The Great Escape” also charted well in Brazil, Canada, UK and New Zealand.
