“Somewhere in Time” is a music theme from the 1980 drama film by Jeannot Szwarc “Somewhere in Time”. It was composed in 1980 by the famous English film music composer and conductor John Barry. This romantic music piece, just like the entire film score including Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini” (18th variation), is one of those compositions that have lived a longer life than their ‘context’, i.e. the film itself. “Somewhere in Time” is a deeply emotional and intriguing music work, it is also very personal for John Barry who took up the work on the film after the death of his parents. With its romantic character, the theme is widely-requested for wedding ceremonies until today. John Barry is first of all known for his music to James Bond films, as well as for the award-winning scores to the motion pictures “Out of Africa”, “Dancing with the Wolves”, to “The Persuaders!” cult series and many other works that can be also found in our catalogue. I am happy to have chosen this particular alto sax arrangement of Barry's masterpiece. I've aaalways dreamt of playing the theme from Somewhere In Time and here we are, a flowing rendition on point! Note to not, perfectly laid-out score, the moment when every detail matters and is pleasantly on place. Looks like it's gonna be a fave regularly played from now on. Thanks!
