“Taylor, the Latte Boy” is the favourite song of Starbucks coffee lovers and not only. It was created in 1992 in a collaboration of the musical theatre composer Zina Goldrich and the lyricist Marcy Heisler. According to Marcy, the story described in the song is based on her personal experience when she had a crush on a very handsome boy at one of the Starbucks’ coffee shops and decided to take action to get his attention. The catchy melody and simplistic lyrics of “Taylor, the Latte Boy” made it very attractive to the general public. The most well-known performance of the song belongs to the American actress Kristin Chenoweth who performed it on The Late Late Show and The Rosie O'Donnell Show. Other artists to perform “Taylor” were Susan Egan and John Tartaglia. The composition sounds equally cheerful and lively virtually on any instrument, from traditional piano and guitar to choral a capella versions.

Taylor the Latte Boy is an exceptionally good workout for your voice. While the piano accompaniment is not difficult, the vocal part is what will make you sweat a bit. The narrative style of the song is quite intimate in style, it’s a well-balanced dialogue with the audience and you need to adapt quickly to convey each character smoothly. It’s all about the rightly served emotion!

Enjoyed playing(and singing) the song so much! The Latte Boy really is light and fun, mostly because the entire composition is created in a very playful style, allowing a lot of improvisation in the vocal line and somehow in the melody too. However, despite the lightness it possesses, a perfect performance would demand some exceptional vocal skills and a range wider than average. Kristin Chenoweth did it really beautifully at the Late Late Show... As for the piano part, it's not too technically demanding in my view, intermediate pianists would handle it easily.
