This is part of the Anglican Evensong setting in accordance with the Book of Common Prayer (1662). The music in this cases derives partly from an East Midlands folk song recorded as No 118 in Child's Ballads, which is often used as a song about Robin Hood and Guy Gisborne (although it has been used for other songs). The reason for choosing this musical background as that the setting was written for the choir of an East Midlands church (Loughborough Parish church) close to the area where Robin Hood operated. The musical style is a crossover between early church music and modern classical. The sound sample is an electronic preview.
