"Rejoice, rejoice" is is a contemporary setting for a cappella Mixed choir of SATB voices on a Latin poem published in the collection "piae canciones" 1582.
The style is in contemporary idiom but reminiscent of Renaissance modal writing. Also available in SSAA voices. It can be performed by a choir or 4 soloists. The vocal lines can be easily doubled by instruments.
(refrain) Gaudete, gaudete! Christus est natus Ex Maria virgine, gaudete!
1. Tempus adest gratiæ Hoc quod optabamus, Carmina lætitiæ Devote reddamus.
2. Deus homo factus est Natura mirante, Mundus renovatus est A Christo regnante.
3. Ezechielis porta Clausa per transitur, Unde lux est orta Salus invenitur.
4. Ergo nostra contio Psallat iam in lustro; Benedicat Domino: Salus Regi nostro.
(refrain) Rejoice, rejoice! Christ is born Of the Virgin Mary, rejoice!
1. It is a time of grace This is what we hoped for, Songs of joy Let us devoutly sing.
2. God has become man, All of nature marvels, The world is renewed Through the kingdom of Christ.
3.Ezechiel’s portal Is closed for transit, Hence the light is born, Salvation is found.
4. Therefore let our assembly Sing praises now for joy; Bless the Lord: Our King of Salvation.
