"On the Lord's Birthday" is a contemporary motet on an anonymous 15th century text, for three a cappella mixed voices (SAT). The score is also available for SATB and SSA choir. The style of the motet is contemporary but reminiscent of the Renaissance polyphonic style. It can be performed by a choral ensemble or by three solo voices. The parts can be doubled by instruments. 3. The Angel announced as the Shepherds rejoiced: “Today is the birthday of Christ: one of the glories of God”.
4. Christ is born today of the virgin Mary, not conceived from a seed, he appeared today.
5. The Wise Men worship the King, bringing gold, frankincense and myrrh, King of kings, the Lord: Glory be to God alone.
6. Let the Church rejoice with glory forever, let it exult the Most High: Glory be to God alone.
