“X Marks the Spot” is a secret song by Coldplay that one may not find at the first sight on their recent 7th album, the colourful “A Head Full of Dreams”. This music piece is a hidden composition, recorded within the album’s 8th track “Army of One”. It was written by the 4 Coldplay members together with their sound guy Daniel Green and released in 2015 being inserted into the album at the last minute. According to Martin, it was written in under 10 minutes almost by chance when Chris wanted to message his brother by sending a short video. The artist took a risk and suggesting putting the composition on the tracklist, hiding it. “X Marks the Spot” is rather a sonic experiment rather than part of the album’s concept.

Such spontaneous music experiments sometimes result in being the funniest and most attractive! Judging by the composition's score, it's evident that that song is nothing challenging to play and that it was created out of pure fun. I don't care if it doesn't fit any conception (though the album's concept is really deep and worthy), its beauty is in its carefree character.
