This is an easy anthem for 2 parts (Women & Men - or Soprano & Alto) with organ accompaniment. The Tune is from the 17th century ( originally entitled Holy Ghost ). The English text from 1842 includes 6 verses, each of three phrases.
I find the melody rather haunting and very modern, almost chromatic. The organ part includes basic pedal music that doubles the chant. The harmonies are rather innovative and the key changes render this arrangement more contemporary.
The pdf includes the vocal parts for either Women & Men, or 2 part female or children's chorus (SA).
The poetry is by Isaac Williams:
Lord, in this thy mercy's day,
Ere for us it pass away,
On our knees we fall and pray.
Lord, on us thy Spirit pour,
Kneeling lowly at thy door,
Ere it close for evermore.
By thy night of agony,
By thy supplicating cry,
By thy willingness to die,
By thy tears of bitter woe
For Jerusalem below,
let us not thy peace forego.
Judge and Saviour of our race,
Grant us, when we see thy face,
With thy ransomed ones a place.
On thy love we rest alone,
And that love shall then be known
By the pardoned, round thy throne.
Amen.

This is a version for Organ Solo of the same piece included in my listings for 2 voices and organ. It is an arrangement of an early tune - Holy Ghost - from 1640. The piece is in a maestoso contemporary style, but the original melody can be clearly heard.
The text of the tune is included in the score.
