Hymns of Ascent, aka Step Antiphons (αναβαθμοί), are the echo for 15 Psalms of ascetic content
(canticum graduum, Songs of Ascent - Ps.120-134)
which are referring to Jerusalem temple steps.
Antiphons are to be sang during the Vigil (Matins part).
The score-transformer, for 2-6 voices:
2 voices - S2A is the base
3 voices - the base + T or Bs
4-5 voices - S2ABs is the base, any other voices are to be chosen
6 voices - as is.
