My own setting of Emily Dickenson's exquisite poem "Of Bronze and Blaze," which viscerally evokes the wild and mystical majesty of the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights. The poem is bifurcated into two sections, the first set against an incessant ostinato in the piano with soaring vocal melodies, and the second an introspective meditation, concluding with a wisp of the earlier ostinato, trailing off into space as the last strand of light disintegrates into the ether.
