When I looked at the first lines of 'Three Entelechies for organ, No.3 The Heavenly Ladder', a new organ piece came to mind: Metamorphosis. It has actually become the expression of the Easter thought for me. But in my view it also refers to the last Sunday in November before Advent begins, which is called Eternity Sunday or previously known as Sunday of the Dead and is celebrated by Catholics as Christ the King. The theme is the future-oriented consummation of God's plan of salvation with each of us in this world and thereafter - respectively the future of the Kingdom of God, which is not of this world - through an inner transformation. An extremely concise poem by the 14th century Persian poet and mystic Hafiz, admired by Goethe and Brahms, was my emotional guideline: "Wine is like the Lord Jesus Christ; it can bring the dead to life." Provided they are able to absorb that wine of life within themselves. Because: "To be able to pour something full, there must first be an emptiness, the glass is the condition for drinking the wine." (H.B.)
