A contemplation of nature in isolation is my favourite
pastime. As I se it, plurality of phenomena around us associates with certain melodic and harmonic structures. Each of them lives independently, transforms, interacts with the others. The music of Pastorale has appeared from this feeling. On the face of it, short thematic “cells” develop in the piece spontaneously, but they are united on modal and harmonic levels. The work is sustained in gentle half-tints and is not aggressive in its nature. At the beginning of composing it, my first creative urge was the timbre of recorder.
