"I wrote this piece for young percussionist and piano accompaniment because of the possibilities I saw in writing for 4 timpani - unless the student still has to finish first year of timpani playing - by creating a more melodic than rhythmic role for the timpani. I added the bongo's for pure amusement; the young percussionist just thought of it as being "cool" ;-)"
