“Unchained Melody” is a popular 1955 song that keeps being frequently played and covered until today. It was originally created as a theme to a 1955 film “Unchained” about prison life. The lyrics were written by the American composer and lyricist Hy Zaret and the music is by the film composer Alex North, the author of the scores to “Spartacus”, “A Streetcar Named Desire”, “Viva Zapata!” and “Cleopatra”. "Unchained Melody" is a record-breaking composition: it was recorded over 1500 times and covered by over 670 music artists in various languages, becoming a standard that could be heard from every jukebox in the late 20th century. The most outstanding and famous recording of the song belongs to the American duo of Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield known as The Righteous Brothers. Their version was recorded in 1965 and later released as a B-side single for Bobby Hatfield. The song lived a second wave of popularity in 1990 after being used in the blockbuster thriller film by Jerry Zucker – “Ghost”, starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. Hatfield-Medley version is described as epic, ethereal and powerful, it is believed to be the definitive interpretation of “Unchained Melody”. The song topped the charts of various countries worldwide and was certified Platinum by both RIAA and BPI. Some of other prominent covers of the song are versions by Robson & Jerome, Gareth Gates, Bing Crosby, Barry Manilow, Elvis Presley, LeAnn Rimes, to name just a few.

So far there have been over 500 version of the original 1955 song made and I feel I got to make one more! I can't help but enjoy working with this composition immensely
