“All That Jazz” is a composition from the popular Broadway musical “Chicago” produced in 1975 and dwelling on the subjects of corruption and celebrity criminals in a satiric manner. The music to it was written by the American film and theatre composer John Harold Kander, who, together with his songwriting partner, lyricist Fred Ebb formed a creative team “Kander & Ebb”. The duo primarily scored musicals (“Chicago”, “Cabaret”), but is also known for writing scores to movies (“New York, New York” by M. Scorsese) and composing materials for Liza Minelli and Chita Rivera. “All That Jazz” sounds in the first act of the musical as an opening song and is noted to have a unique effect produced with the help of the 7th chord. The song, just like the entire musical, played a very important role at the time when views of women in Jazz culture were changing. The song later became the inspiration for the title of the 1979 film by Bob Fosse.
