“Baby, Come to Me” is a well-known R&B song written by the English songwriter Rod Temperton, a former member of the Heatwave funk-disco band. It is most known as a recording by the duo of the Grammy-winning singer Patti Austin with the American singer and instrumentalist James Ingram. The song was released in 1981 and became part of Patti’s album titled “Every Home Should Have One”, it was also published as a single in 1982. “Baby, Come to Me” is often associated with the popular US soap opera called “General House”, particularly with one of its leading characters Luke Spencer as his love theme. It is after the soap opera broadcast that the composition reached the top of Billboard Hot 100 and had to be re-released as a single once again. Being a catchy romantic love ballad, “Baby, Come to Me” immediately got a number of covers, including those by Dalida, Laura Fygi, Alexander O’Neal, Stephanie Winslow and others. Other popular singles by Patti Austin are “Every Home Should Have One” and “How Do You Keep the Music Playing?”
