Description
The text of Miserere mei, Deus is the older Latin
Vulgate translation of Psalm 50
(according tothe numbering of the Latin Bible)
or 51 according to the numbering
of the Hebrew Bible.
The psalm is part of the traditional 7 penitential
psalms, that is,
6, 32, 38, 51, 102, 130, and 143 (or 6, 31, 37, 50, 101, 129, and 142 in the
Septuagint numbering).
Psalm 51 is usually referred to as the Miserere,
after its Latin incipit.
This Miserere is structured on a short entry instrumental, without Latin incipit and on 9 sequences extracted from Psalm 51
