This short composition for piano solo was written for a minimal music project during my conservatory days in 2004 and later revised for a Yamaha Disklavier project at Festival CEMENT 2006, in Tilburg - The Netherlands.
I'm not much of a minimalist, but this is my take on some minimal music principals like; repetitive motion, cell emphasized development and rhythmic groove orientation. The incorporation of the whole instrument by using the body of the piano comes from some jazz influences.
The composition was also inspired by the fantastic play of colors and shimmerings that light can create upon the surface of water. Many a day I've spend sitting on a bench in a park and just looking at these never tiring spectacles of light and movement.
For now...Happy listening and making music.
