The poetry is from the 13th century and is commonly sung to the chant melody of the present setting, from the 14th century. There are other melodies that use the same text. The score is flexible, it can be sung by Soloist and choir, or by alternating sections (at wil) and choir. The added verses in the text complete the Poem, but can be cut to shorten the Chant.
