The text of this work is by Giordano Bruno. The beginning of the text "Et natura parens" I have also used in the first of the TRES SENTENTIAE (Three Sayings) for SATB.

The choir work QUIN TU URE is based on a text by Giordano Bruno, from "De Triplici minimo et mensura”,1591. The Latin text reads: “[...] Et natura parens effert super omnia? Quin tu Ure fatigatum pectus, mea vita, precabor Amplius ure tuae, neu in me parce pharetrae; Unum me faciant tua milleque vulnera vulnus. Nempe ita me in lumen cernam convertier unum, Unus eroque oculus totum, circum omnia cernens, Simpliceque obtutu praesens, lapsum atque futurum. Aspiciamque simul supera, infera et omnia circum.” In English: "[...] And does nature obediently lift everything up? I will pray to you, glow in your chest, my life glow more violently and don't spare your quiver against me. Let a thousand wounds from you make me one wound, after all, so I will see that I change into one light and I will be completely one eye around everything distinctive and with one glance I will contemplate the present, the past and future, at the same time everything above and below and all around."
