I wrote this piece for a concert I had to perform in Pinerolo (Piedmont, Italy), on a Dell'Orto-Lanzini organ, built in the north German Baroque style, with mean-tone temperament. A veritable challenge. But the final result was truly amazing and extremely satisfactory. The three themes of the three movements are derived from the translation in notes of the three words "Nostra", "Signora", "d iFatima", using the Italian alphabet. The "Mosso e rubato" looks like the first Inventio of J. S. Bach, with the theme that appears, in various forms, in almost all the measures. The "Andante Pastorale" presents the theme both in the accompanying figures and in solo voice. The "Allegro vorticoso" uses the first notes of the theme for the figures in sixteenth notes, and embroiders the theme itself at the pedal with passing notes, transfiguring it. In addition, the first and the last movements play on continuous metric changes.
Scrissi questo pezzo per un concerto che tenni a Pinerolo (Piedmont, Italy), su un organo Dell'Orto-Lanzini, costruito nello stile barocco della Germania del nord, con temperamento mesotonico. Una vera sfida! Ma il risultato finale fu davvero sorprendente e del tutto soddisfacente. I tre temi dei tre movimenti sono derivati dalla trasposizione in note delle tre parole "Nostra", "Signora", "di Fatima", utilizzando l'alfabeto italiano. Il "Mosso e rubato" presenta il tema trattato come fa Bach nella sua Inventio I, presente in quasi tutte le battute, per moto retto, contrario, in aumentazione. L'"Andante Pastorale" elabora il tema sia nelle figure di accompagnamento che nella voce solista. L'"Allegro vorticoso" fa uso delle prime note del tema per disegnare le figurazioni in sedicesimi, mentre ricama il tema stesso al pedale con note di passaggio e fioriture, trasfigurandolo. Il primo e l'ultimo movimento giocano poi su continue variazioni metriche.
