These three songs, written in 2010, are setting of poems by Austin Kleon. The poet has applied the ‘less is more’ theory to the news. He blacks out most of any given newspaper article and makes a poem out of what remains.
The three short songs are ‘Supernatural Man’, ‘Ambitions Point Elsewhere’ and ‘The 7th Day’ and the first is for baritone, the second for mezzo-soprano and the third for both singers. The music reflects the brevity of the words, using an economy of notes and an almost minimalistic approach.
