The piece may be performed by an ensemble smaller than indicated by the score. For example the piece may be performed just by Parts 1-4, or just by Percussion, Piano and Guitars, etc.
Parts 1-4 are suitable for multiple quartet combinations with parts available (and potential instrumentations suggested) as follows:
Part 1: C, Bb (Flute, Oboe, Alto Recorder, Bb Clarinet,Violin 1)
Part 2: C, Bb, G (Alto Flute, Oboe,Tenor Recorder, Bb Clarinet,Violin 2)
Part 3: C, Bb, Eb, F (Bb Clarinet,Tenor Recorder, Alto Saxophone,Violin 3,Viola)
Part 4: C, Bb, Eb, F (Bb Clarinet, Bass Recorder, Alto Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone, Horn in F, Violin 4, Viola)
Part 4 may be played or doubled an octave or two octaves lower (with Cello and Double Bass using the Bass Guitar part if convenient). String instruments may play Part 4 pizzicato.
Suggestions for the Untuned Percussion part are: high hat, ride cymbal, cabasa.
Suggestions for the Tuned Percussion part are: handbells, vibraphone, glockenspiel, tubular bells, toy piano - played in any suitable octave.
Voices may sing at any convenient octave.
The acoustic guitar part may be played by harpsichord, or harp, or an electronic keyboard using a plucked instrument sound, played an octave higher than the guitar sounds (i.e. the apparent written pitch.)
