Strazz Pizzazz was written by accident. I stopped by Carson City to visit my brother as I was returning from a two week trip to Hollywood to pitch my music, theater, film and TV scripts. I happened to visit the Nevada State Legislator’s building and came upon Sue Jesch conducting a delightful group of school age string players with a guitar accompanist. I asked Sue if she would like to play some original music and, in short, submitted this piece to her orchestra two weeks later and it was scheduled for a premiere performance in the Carson City City Park on August 7, 2011.
Strazz Pizzazz is for string orchestra and the kids requested I write something with a rock beat but also something the kids could improvise on in a jazzy way. The electric guitar part is optional.
